Perspective, and how to mold it
I've spent years trying to figure out why I felt so sad and anxious about everything. Why would I always expect the worst out of everyone and everything? When I say everything I mean it. I was in a shell that could smile to the public, but on the inside I had a scramble of emotions so twisted and tangled I could barely keep a conversation going, even with friends.
I learned through lots of journalling and self reflection that alot of these perspectives are just lenses we see life through, and our thoughts effect the way we perceive the world. It may sound simple but it can get complex, especially when you're deep in the emotions. These are some things I've learned about self talk, perspective, compassion, and how these things effect life enjoyment and overall happiness.
Perception of Positivity:
Our perspective determines whether we focus on the positive or negative aspects of our lives. By adopting a positive perspective, we can appreciate the small joys, find gratitude in everyday moments, and cultivate an optimistic outlook. This positive mindset enhances our overall enjoyment and satisfaction with life.
Resilience and Adaptability:
Life is full of ups and downs, challenges, and unexpected events. With the right perspective, we can develop resilience and adaptability, enabling us to navigate difficulties with grace and perseverance. Viewing setbacks as learning opportunities or stepping stones toward growth helps us maintain a sense of purpose and enjoyment, even in the face of adversity.
Gratitude and Contentment:
Perspective allows us to recognize and appreciate what we have rather than constantly striving for more. By practicing gratitude and acknowledging the positives in our lives, we cultivate contentment and reduce the tendency to compare ourselves to others. This shift in perspective promotes a greater sense of fulfillment and enjoyment of our current circumstances.
Broadened Horizons:
Adopting different perspectives opens our minds to diverse ideas, cultures, and experiences. It helps us challenge our preconceived notions and biases, fostering empathy, understanding, and connection with others. By embracing multiple perspectives, we expand our worldview, enrich our experiences, and find joy in learning from different viewpoints.
Mindfulness and Present Moment Awareness:
Perspective encourages us to be mindful and fully present in each moment. When we are aware of the beauty and uniqueness of the present moment, we can savor it and derive more enjoyment from it. By focusing on the here and now, we enhance our overall life experience.
